What Is Welchol Used For?
The medication Welchol is a cholesterol-lowering drug. This medication lowers the “bad” cholesterol, also known as
LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol. Lowering of “bad” cholesterol further helps in reducing the risk of hardening of arteries which can lead to heart attacks, stroke and circulation problems. Welchol is also used along with diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. However, this medication is not approved for treating type I diabetes.
