What is Trusopt Ophthalmic Drops used for?

Trusopt is an ophthalmic carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and is used to lower the raised pressure in your eye(s) in patients suffering from glaucoma. It is a preservative-free formulation used in patients who might be sensitive to a preservative. This medication inhibits the enzyme called carbonic anhydrase and thus helps to reduce the production of watery secretion of the eye, which helps to decrease the pressure. Use the eye drops exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dose is one drop of Trusopt in the affected eye(s) in the morning and in the evening. However, the dose and duration of treatment will be established by your doctor. Do not allow the tip of the container to touch the eye or the areas around the eye. It may become contaminated with bacteria that can cause eye infections leading to serious damage of the eye, even loss of vision. To avoid possible contamination of the container, keep the tip of the container away from contact with any surface.
