What is Toradol Used for?

Toradol (Ketorolac) is a prescription medicine used to treat moderate to severe pain in adults before or after medical procedures or after surgery. The active ingredient in Toradol is Ketorolac. Ketorolac belongs to the group of medicine called a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Ketorolac works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. This effect helps to decrease swelling, pain, or fever. Reducing pain helps you recover more comfortably to return to your normal daily activities.

• Body itching;
• Constipation;
• Diarrhea;

Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Toradol?

Tell your doctor if you are taking pentoxifylline (Pentoxil) or probenecid (Probalan, in Col-Probenecid). Your doctor will probably tell you not to take Ketorolac if you take one or more of these medications. Do not use Toradol if you are allergic to Ketorolac, aspirin, or other NSAID medicine. Ketorolac should not be used for mild or long-term painful conditions (such as arthritis). Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To reduce your risk of stomach bleeding and other side effects, take this medication at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. Do not increase your dose. Take it more frequently, or take it for longer than 5 days. If you still have pain after 5 days, talk with your doctor about other medications you may use. This medication may make you feel dizzy. It would help if you did not drive or operate heavy machines until you could do it unaided. You should limit your alcoholic beverages while using a Ketorolac tablet or injection.

You should not take Toradol and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• A heart attack, stroke, or blood clot;
• Asthma;
• Fluid retention;
• Heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or if you smoke;
• Intestinal problems such as inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn's disease;
• Kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis);
• Liver disease;
• Stomach ulcers or bleeding

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Ketorolac may harm the fetus and cause delivery problems if taken around 20 weeks or later during pregnancy. Do not take Ketorolac around the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, unless your doctor tells you. If you become pregnant while taking Ketorolac, call your doctor.

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements to prevent drug interactions, which might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' action. There may be a drug interaction between Toradol and other drugs such as:
• Aspirin and other NSAIDs – ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, diclofenac, indomethacin, meloxicam;
• Diuretics such as enalapril, lisinopril, fosinopril;
• Pentoxifylline;
• Probenecid;
• Sulfasalazine;
• Tacrolimus
