This drug is used to treat dogs with or at risk from external and internal parasitic infestations. Simparica Trio is also used to control gastrointestinal nematodes. The drug can also prevent heartworm disease and angiostrongylosis. This medicine is safe for dogs and puppies as young as 8 weeks old and weighing at least 2.8 pounds or more. Simparica Trio is a combination of three medicines to protect your dog. The active ingredients in Simparica Trio are Pyrantel, Sarolaner, and Moxidectin. Pyrantel and Moxidectin belong to a class of medications called antihelmintics. They work by paralyzing the microorganisms, leading to death. Sarolaner belongs to a class of drugs called isoxazoline parasiticides. It works by increasing neuromuscular activity, leading to the death of parasites.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Simparica Trio?

For the treatment of intestinal nematode, administer Simparica Trio once as a single dose. Monthly use of this drug will control any subsequent infections. This drug is not for use in humans. Do not give your cat Simparica Trio. Before starting treatment with Simparica Trio, test your dog for existing heartworm infections. Treat infected dogs with an adulticide to remove adult heartworms. Simparica Trio is not effective in treating adult heartworms.

Your dog should not use Simparica Trio and inform your veterinarian about its medical history, especially if it has or has had:
• A history of seizures or neurologic disorders;
• Existing heartworms

Tell your veterinarian if your dog is pregnant or breeding. The safe use of Simparica Trio in pregnant or breeding dogs has not been evaluated. Inform your doctor if your dog is lactating. It is unknown if Pyrantel, Sarolaner, or Moxidectin passes into milk or if they may harm a nursing puppy. Tell your veterinarian about all the medications your dog uses, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions that might be fatal to your pet's health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. There may be a drug interaction between Simparica Trio and other drugs.
