What is Seysara Used for?

Seysara (Sarecycline hydrochloride) is used to treat acne that is moderate to severe. This medication belongs to the class of medications called Tetracycline antibiotics. It works by reducing or halting the growth of specific germs on the skin. It may also help to reduce the redness and swelling associated with acne lesions. This antibiotic is solely used to treat bacterial infections. It has no effect on viral infections (such as common cold, flu). When an antibiotic is used when it isn't needed, it loses its ability to prevent future infections. Seysara is a prescription medication for patients aged nine and up who have moderate to severe acne vulgaris. Seysara should not be used for infection treatment or prevention. It's unclear whether Seysara is safe and effective for use beyond 12 weeks. Seysara is not known to be safe or effective in children under the age of nine.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Seysara?

Seysara may cause serious side effects, including:
• Diarrhea;
• Effects on the central nervous system include lightheadedness, dizziness, and a spinning sensation;
• Harm to an unborn baby;
• Increased pressure around the brain (intracranial hypertension);
• Permanent teeth discoloration;
• Sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity);
• Slow bone growth

Seysara's most prevalent side effect is nausea. Males may experience fertility issues as a result of Seysara. It's possible that this will impact your ability to father a child. Consult your doctor if you're concerned about your fertility. These aren't all of Seysara's possible adverse effects.

Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Seysara?

If you are allergic to sarecycline or other tetracyclines (such as doxycycline) or have any other allergies, notify your doctor or pharmacist before taking it. For further information, speak with your pharmacist. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, especially if you have difficulty swallowing or esophageal difficulties (such as hiatal hernia or reflux/heartburn). This medicine has the potential to cause dizziness.

If you drink or use marijuana, you may become dizzy. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages. This drug could make you more sun-sensitive. As much as possible, limit your time in the sun. Sunlamps and tanning booths should be avoided.

When you're outside, use sunscreen and wear protective gear. If you get sunburned or see blisters or redness on your skin, call your doctor right once. Sarecycline may impair the effectiveness of live bacterial vaccinations (such as the typhoid vaccine).

Unless your doctor advises otherwise, do not get any vaccines or vaccinations while taking this drug. Children under the age of eight may be more sensitive to sarecycline's side effects, mainly tooth discoloration. Older children and young adults have also experienced tooth discoloration.

Consult your doctor about the dangers and advantages of this drug. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant. It is not recommended that you become pregnant while taking sarecycline. Sarecycline has the potential to harm an unborn child. If you become pregnant while taking this medicine, talk to your doctor straight away about the risks and benefits.

Tell your doctor about all of your medications, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements. If you're taking any of the following medications, let your doctor know:
• Antacids such as Tums, Pepto-Bismol, Milk of Magnesia, and Alka-Seltzer;
• Anticoagulants such as warfarin;
• Iron-containing preparations;
• Oral Retinoids such as Accutane and Soriatane;
• Penicillin antibiotics such as penicillin, amoxicillin, and ampicillin;
• P-glycoprotein substrates such as digoxin

This is not an exhaustive list of drug interactions with Seysara.
