What is the Robaxisal Used for?

Robaxisal (Acetylsalicylic Acid/Methocarbamol) is a prescription medicine used to treat symptoms of muscle spasms such as pain and tension. Involuntary movement and forceful contraction of the muscles lead to muscle spasms. The active ingredients in Robaxisal are Acetylsalicylic Acid and Methocarbamol. Acetylsalicylic Acid belongs to a class of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking enzymes that produce prostaglandins in the body to relieve pain and discomfort resulting from muscle spasms. Methocarbamol belongs to a class of drugs called skeletal muscle relaxants. It works by calming overactive nerves in the body to promote muscle relaxation.

If you wait till your symptoms worsen, the medication may not work as well. Avoid coffee, spicy food, or alcohol when using Robaxisal. Alcohol may increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Alcohol can also make you dizzy. Do not drive or use machinery until you can do it safely. This drug can make you drowsy. Avoid doing anything that requires alertness to reduce your risk of falls.
