Rinvoq (Upadacitinib) is used to treat adults with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis in people who had no success with Methotrexate or could not be tolerated. Upadacitinib belongs to the class of drugs known as JAK inhibitors, which block inflammation-causing enzymes called Janus kinases. This medication works by suppressing the immune system. It can lower the ability of your immune system to fight infections. Rinvoq does not work right away. It can take about 2 to 8 weeks before patients start feeling better.

What are the Possible Side Effects of Rinvoq?


The common side effects of Rinvoq may include cold symptoms, cough, fever and nausea. Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:

• Shingles;
• Signs of blood clot in your leg or lung;
• Signs of perforation;
• Signs of tuberculosis

Are there any Precautions or Drug Interactions for Rinvoq?

Rinvoq should not be used along with other immune suppressants such as Tacrolimus, Cyclosporine, Azathioprine. Rinvoq should be used with caution in patients that consume grapefruit and grapefruit juice.

You should not have any immunizations or vaccinations without the consent of a doctor. Avoid contact with people who have recently received live vaccines. You should not breast-feed while using this medication and for 6 days after stopping treatment.

Rinvoq should be stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature away from light and moisture away from children and pets. Do not store this medication in the bathroom.
