What is Oesclim used for?


Oesclim is a transdermal estrogen hormone patch (but can come in a gel or spray, as well) and is used to treat symptoms of menopause caused by low levels of estrogen in the body. It reduces the severity of hot flashes, treats changes in and around the vagina (such as vaginal dryness, itching, and burning), as well as help prevent osteoporosis after menopause. Oesclim Storage and Safety Information


Store Oesclim in a closed container at room temperature away from extreme heat, light, and moisture. Do not allow to freeze (do not store in a car, for example).

This medication is to be used on the skin only. Don’t get it in your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. Do not use over areas of skin that have cuts, scrapes, or burns. If it does get into any of these areas, immediately wash with soap and water.

This medication may harm an unborn or nursing baby. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are nursing.

This medication may increase your risk of blood clots, strokes, or heart attacks, even after you stop taking Oesclim. Contact your doctor right away if you experience any symptoms of confusion, difficulty speaking, double vision, headaches, inability to love arms, legs or facial muscles, or have an inability to speak.

Long-term use may increase the risk of dementia, particularly in women over 65 years old. It may also increase the risk of developing gallbladder disease.

Do not allow pets to lick the areas of skin where this medication has been applied, as they may be more sensitive to the medication. Contact your pet’s veterinarian if you notice signs of: nipple or breast enlargement, swelling of the vulva, or any other signs of illness.

Seek emergency help or call Poison Control at 1-800-463-5060 immediately if you suspect an overdose. Symptoms of overdose include:
• Abdominal or stomach pain;
• Dizziness;
• Drowsiness;
• Nausea or vomiting;
• Breast tenderness;
• Unusual tiredness or weakness
