What is the NexGard Used for?


NexGard (Afoxolaner) is a prescription medicine used to kill adult fleas for one month in puppies and dogs at least 8 weeks old and weighing at least 4 lbs. The drug is also used to treat and control tick infestations caused by black-legged, American dog, lone star, brown dog, and long-horned ticks. NexGard may also be used to prevent infections that may result from killing vector ticks. The active ingredient in NexGard is Afoxolaner. Afoxolaner belongs to a class of drugs called isoxazoline insecticides. It works by interfering with the nervous system of the parasites, causing their paralysis and eventually death.

What are the Possible Side Effects of NexGard?


If your dog experiences any of the following common side effects, contact your veterinarian or pharmacist immediately:
• Appetite loss;
• Diarrhea;
• Hyperactivity;
• Lethargy
