Are There Alternative Names for the Brand and Generic Monopost?

Monopost is manufactured by Thea Pharmaceuticals and comes from United Kingdom. The active ingredient in Monopost is latanoprost. The generic equivalent of Monopost is not available.

What Dosages and Forms is Monopost available in?

Monopost is available as 50 micrograms/ml eye drops, solution in single dose container.

What is Monopost used for?

Monopost belongs to a class of medications known as prostaglandins. It is used to lower the pressure within the eye, for treating conditions such as open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Both of these conditions are linked with an increase in pressure within your eye, eventually affecting the eye sight. Monopost lowers the pressure inside the eye by increasing the natural outflow of the fluid from the eye into the bloodstream. Always use the eye drops as prescribed by your doctor. The usual dose for adults is one drop once a day in the affected eye. The best time to use the eye drops is in the evening. Do not use it more than once a day, because the effectiveness of the treatment can be reduced by using it more often. If you wear contact lenses, you should remove them before using Monopost and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting your contact lenses back in.

What Are The Possible Side Effects of Monopost?

Some of the common side effects of Monopost include a gradual change in the eye color (increase in the amount of brown pigment in the colored part of the eye), redness of the eye, eye irritation (a feeling of burning, grittiness, itching, stinging, or sensation of a foreign body in the eye, a gradual change to the eyelashes of the treated eye (increase of color, length, thickness and number of eye lashes), eyelid inflammation and eye pain. Some serious side effects reported by patients who use Monopost include fluid filled area within the colored part of the eye (iris cyst), headache, dizziness, palpitations, muscle pain, joint pain and developing a viral infection of the eye caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). These are not all the possible side effects of Monopost. In case of any unexpected effect, consult your healthcare professional immediately.
