What is Inflectra used for?


Inflectra is used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis (in combination with methotrexate) and ankylosing spondylitis. It is also used in people with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Inflectra is also used in adult patients with moderate to severe Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. In these diseases, the body over produces a substance known as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha). The active ingredient in Inflectra is infliximab which is a monoclonal antibody. It binds to and neutralizes TNF alpha. Inflectra is made from mouse and human proteins. It can lower your body’s ability to fight infections. Inflectra will be given to you by your doctor intravenously.

Some of the common side effects of Inflectra may include shortness of breath, rash, headache, abdominal pain, back pain, coughing, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, itchiness, pain, upper respiratory infections (such as bronchitis, sinusitis, cold, sore throat), upset stomach, and urinary tract infections.
