Chronic hepatitis C often has no symptoms but can lead to life-threatening problems like liver cancer and cirrhosis. When the symptoms of this disease appear, they are a sign of advanced liver disease. The active substances in Epclusa are Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir. Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir belong to a class of medication called nucleotide polymerase inhibitors. They work by preventing the hepatitis C virus from replicating in your body by blocking a protein in the virus called HCV NS5. The drug is sometimes used with other medicines like Ribavirin. Epclusa may not prevent the spread of hepatitis C to other people.
