What is Endometrin Used for?

Endometrin (Progesterone) is a prescription vaginal insert tablet used in fertility treatment as part of assisted reproductive technology (ART). The active ingredient in Endometrin is Progesterone. Progesterone belongs to the class of medications called progestins (female hormones). Endometrin works as part of hormone replacement therapy by decreasing estrogen levels in the uterus. The drug increases the progesterone levels in women taking fertility treatments to prepare the uterus lining to receive fertilized eggs. This increases your chances of becoming and staying pregnant.

Are there any Precautions and Drug Interactions for Endometrin?

Before taking this medication, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Endometrin, Progesterone, or other ingredients in Endometrin. It is crucial to use this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
You have to insert Endometrin tablets with the provided applicator. Put a tablet in the space provided at the end of the applicator. The tablet should fit and not fall out. Gently insert the thin end of the applicator into the vagina while you are sitting, standing, or lying on your back with your knees bent. Push the plunger to release the tablet. Remove the applicator and rinse thoroughly with warm running water. Wipe the applicator dry with soft tissue and keep it for subsequent use.

If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use an extra dose to make up for the missed dose. If you overdose on Progesterone, contact your doctor immediately.

You should not take Endometrin and inform your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
• A history of depression;
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding;
• Asthma;
• High blood pressure;
• History of stroke or blood clot;
• Liver disease;
• Migraines

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Do not use Endometrin when pregnant, except if it is part of your fertility treatment. The drug is indicated in the first trimester only as part of an assisted reproduction (ART) regimen. Using Endometrin during pregnancy may cause fetal anomalies. Women breastfeeding should not use Progesterone. Progesterone passes into breast milk and may harm your baby.

Tell your doctor about all the medications you use, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, and vitamin supplements, to prevent drug interactions which might be fatal to your health. This drug interaction may make your drug less effective, cause adverse effects, or potentiate other drugs' actions. There may be a drug interaction between Endometrin and other drugs, such as:
Carbamazepine;
• Ketoconazole;
• Other vaginal products;
• Rifampicin;
• St. John's wort
