Emo Cort (Hydrocortisone) is a prescription medicine used to help relieve redness, itching, swelling, or other discomfort caused by skin conditions such as rash, atopic dermatitis, and seborrheic dermatitis bites. The active ingredient in Emo Cort is Hydrocortisone. Hydrocortisone belongs to the class of drugs called topical Corticosteroid (cortisone-like medicine or steroid). It decreases inflammation by stabilizing leukocyte lysosomal membranes, preventing the release of destructive acid hydrolases from leukocytes. It also works by reducing antagonizing histamine activity and release kinin from substrates. By this action, it serves as anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive actions.
