What is Drysol Used for?

Drysol (Aluminum Chloride) is an over-the-counter medication used to treat excessive sweating, also called hyperhidrosis, in people who sweat a lot (severe, recalcitrant hyperhidrosis). The active ingredient in Drysol is Aluminum Chloride. Drysol belongs to the class of medicine called Astringents. It works by affecting the cells that produce sweat. After applying Drysol to your skin, the metallic salts (Aluminum Chloride) mix with your sweat and then get pulled into the sweat duct. Once there, a chemical reaction occurs, and the salt-sweat mixture blocks the sweat gland, reducing perspiration.

If you experience any of the following common side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately:
• Darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation);
