What is Dificid used for?
Dificid (Fidaxomicin) is used to treat diarrhea caused by an infection with Clostridium difficile. Fidaxomicin belongs to the class of medications called macrolide antibiotics. It works by killing sensitive bacteria. The symptoms may include blood or mucus in your stool, persistent diarrhea, stomach or abdominal pain or cramping. Dificid works in the intestines and is not absorbed by your body. This medication should only be used to treat this type of intestinal bacterial infection.
