Be sure to take Deltasone with food.

Avoid drinking alcohol while on this medication. Deltasone can also increase your risk of harmful side effects when combined with “live” vaccines. Do not receive the following live vaccines while taking prednisone:
• Measles
• Mumps
• Rubella
• Rotavirus
• Typhoid
• Yellow fever
• Chickenpox
• Zoster
• Nasal influenza

Long-term use of steroids, including prednisone, can lead to bone loss, particularly if you smoke, do not get enough exercise or vitamin D in your diet, or have a family history of osteoporosis.

Do not take this medication while you are pregnant or nursing, as it may harm the baby.

Children taking steroids may have growth issues, and may not grow at the normal rate. Talk with your doctor if you think this may be the case.

Seek emergency help or call Poison Control at 1-800-463-5060 immediately if you suspect an overdose.
