Are There Alternative Names for the Brand and Generic Betoptic?

What Dosages and Forms is Betoptic available in?

Betoptic (betaxolol hydrochloride ophthalmic suspension) is a sterile isotonic aqueous suspension containing betaxolol 0.25% and 0.5% and is supplied in 5 mL or 10 mL bottles.

What is Betoptic used for?

Betoptic is used to lower the eye pressure (intraocular pressure) and thus used for the treatment of glaucoma. It is believed that Betoptic acts by reducing the production of aquesous humor (a watery fluid in the eye), thereby reducing eye pressure. Always use the eye drops exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The usual adult dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily. After using Betoptic, press a finger into the corner of your eye, by the nose for 2 minutes. This helps to stop betaxolol getting into the rest of your body.
